Take Note

I am a lover of notebooks. Searching for the next perfect journal is one of my favourite procastinating pasttimes. A basket of overflowing notebooks spills out onto the floor of our bedroom, impeding my husband's route to his golf clubs. Though I have made several attempts to jump on the blogwagon, I still prefer the "handy dandy notebook".  A few random blog entries can be found at  http://tarabenwell.bravejournal.com/. I've realized over the past few years, that maintaining an online presence is not an easy task for a new/working mom. A rare day goes by when I don't pick up my journal...

I've just discovered a new line of environmentally friendly notebooks at www.ecojot.com. Check out the story behind this company and paper designer Carolyn Gavin. I'm excited to announce that I will be using 100% ecojot notebooks for 2008.

"In my experience, pushing to change things has never worked. It probably does for some people, but in my life and experience, I'm better off gratefully accepting the lovely gifts of life as they show up and letting them go just as graciously." Victoria Moran

"Working at home it becomes necessary to go out into the world and see other humans, lest you forget that there is actually a world out there, full of people moving their bodies about, doing various things, interacting." Keri Smith (Wish Jar Journal)

"I've focused for years on making the holidays simpler and making the holidays more meaningful and it's only made them harder!" Jennifer Louden (LoudenMouth)

"...self care sometimes means accepting what is without second guessing or endless loop anaysis...Making a choice, taking action, then moving on can be revolutionary." Carla Blazek (zena moon)

The important thing is that there should be a space of time, say four hours a day at least, when a professional writer doesn’t do anything else but write. He doesn’t have to write, and if he doesn’t feel like it, he shouldn’t try. He can look out of the window or stand on his head or writhe on the floor. But he is not to do any other positive thing, not read, write letters, glance at magazines, or write checks. Write or nothing. It’s the same principle as keeping order in a school. If you make the pupils behave, they will learn something just to keep from being bored. I find it works. Two very simple rules, a. you don’t have to write. B. you can’t do anything else. The rest comes of itself.

"Being cradled is the ultimate comfort!I want to remember this sensation of being cradled always, to call upon it when I feel lonely, abandoned, anxious, hopeless or freaked out. To remember that the Universe is always holding us -- warmly, safely, delightfully, tenderly -- no matter how messy or flailing we feel inside."  Carla  Blazek (Women at Rest-An Oasis for the Frazzled and Overwhelmed)
